NASOMBL, the North American Strat-O-Matic Baseball League, isn't just a league; it's a living testament to the enduring passion for America's beloved pastime. Established in the early 1980s by the visionary Rick Fox, alongside cornerstone members Dennis LaFever and Bob O'Jack, NASOMBL has evolved into a haven for baseball enthusiasts and a celebration of the game's strategic intricacies. Our league boasts 20 teams, each with a rich history that spans over four decades, creating a mosaic of baseball lore.
As we step onto the field of continuous Strat-O-Matic replay, we honor the roots laid by our founding members and embrace the ever-evolving nature of the sport. It's more than just recreating games; it's about reliving the magic of iconic moments and legendary matchups that have defined baseball history.
In our journey through time, we crown champions who etch their names into NASOMBL history. Currently reigning atop the league is none other than John Bennet of the Grass Lake Pelicans, a testament to skill, strategy, and a deep love for the game.
Welcome to NASOMBL, where the spirit of the game lives on in every dice roll and strategic decision.
What is Strat-O-Matic?
Strat-O-Matic Baseball is a board and/or computer game that uses statistical probabilities to recreate the performance of players in a season.
The game was invented by Hal Richman in 1948 when he was 11 years old. He was frustrated by the randomness of other baseball board games and discovered that the predictability of dice could add realism.
The first Strat-O-Matic season was in 1962.
The game is played with pitcher and batter cards that are constructed with statistical probabilities. Players make player selections and offensive and defensive decisions that determine the outcome. The game can be played solo, face-to-face, or online via netplay.
The game is so well known that it is exhibited in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The East Meadow Strat-O-Matic Baseball League (EMSBL) was founded in 1972 and is believed to be the oldest continuously playing fantasy sports league in the world.
The digital game is available for $50 HERE. You can also purchase the board game on Amazon.
